Hydro Sponge V

Lustar Hydro-Sponge filters provide both mechanical and biological filtration. Simply install an airline into the unit and provide both aeration and filtration for your fish. Aerobic bacteria colonize the sponge providing a bacterial substance to facilitate the nitrogen cycle. In addition, the Hydro-Sponge traps larger waste particles mechanically cleaning the water without trapping baby fish. Lustar filters are capable of moving more water than rival sponge filters. 1" Diameter lift tubes allow the use of Powerheads without adapters, increasing their versatility. Featuring a weighted base that keeps the unit from floating during use, and a raised portion to eliminate dead space between the filter, and your substrate. Hydro Sponge Filters can be used with, or without an airstone. Easy to clean, simply rinse and squeeze sponge under cool running water once every 1-2 months.

Lustar Hydro-Sponges are efficient, easy to use biological and mechanical in tank filters. Each unit requires an air pump to run. The stronger the pump, the more water is forced through the large sponge. The sponge catches large particles while growing bacteria that further help to break down waste products.
